It aims to prepare talented, young musicians in classical and light music for a professional career. Jong Metropole blends the best of different music genres, borrowing from the performance strength of classical strings to the swing, improvisation, and timing of jazz, and more. Conducted by Christian Elsässer, this special performance was recorded at the former radio transmission station, Kootwijk.

The artists for each session are selected in consultation with Stingray DJAZZ's music editor. One of the artists taking part in this series is pianist Hércules Gomes. Due to his impressive technical skill and expressive choice of repertoire he is considered one of Brazil's foremost pianists today. Hércules has performed with numerous renowned Brazilian musicians, including Arismar do Espirito Santo, Letieres Leite, Alessandro Penezzi, Wilson das Neves, and Banda Mantiqueira.

At the height of the Argentinean summer, the Orquesta Filarmónica del Teatro Colon under Daniel Barenboim (conductor & soloist) join bandoneon virtuoso Leopoldo Federico and his Orquesta Tipica for an extraordinary New Year's Eve show with popular tangos and Latin American orchestra classics. The old master of tango, José Carli, created enchanting new arrangements of works by Argentinean artists Astor Piazzolla, Carlos Gardel, Julio de Caro, Alberto Ginastera and Horacio Salgán. Six hundred 'funkateers' came together to cheer the bass player and funk hero. In the sixties, Graham was mainly known for his work with Sly and the Family Stone, the popular and influential psychedelic soul and funk band. As founder and front man of Graham Central Station he has also enjoyed a successful solo career. It is often said that Graham pioneered the art of slap-pop playing on the electric bass, which has become a staple of modern funk. During this Paris performance, Graham shows he is one of the heroes of funk!

The sheer rawness of the metropoles merge with the musical creations of various artists in search of the perfect 'urban stage'. In this episode, Tokyo serves as a backdrop for sets by Kyoto Jazz Massive, Sleep Walker, and Quasimode.

Hosted in Bremen, Germany, jazzahead! brings together musicians, bookers, agents, organizers, jazz experts, and music enthusiasts at the world's largest jazz event. In 2022, jazzahead! paid special attention to Canada's jazz scene and invited forty jazz acts from all over the world to perform over the course of three days. One of the bands appearing at jazzahead! 2022 is J.D.HIVE, an audacious quartet led by Austrian violinist and radio.string.quartet.vienna founding member Johannes Dickbauer. Dickbauer is accompanied by pianist Sebastian Schneider, bassist Andreas Waelti, and percussionist András Dés. Playfully fusing classical, folk, jazz and rock elements, the foursome's music is characterized by an unmistakable spirit of adventure.

A wide variety of international jazz musicians give a creative, up-close and inside insight into their art of playing jazz music. Young talent and established jazz musicians play to their heart's content. Saxophonist Ben Sluijs received a classical training. He has a strong melodic and harmonic approach to music. His music offers no room for showing off: it's all about the music itself. Sluijs' fascination for jazz developed after his cum laude graduation, inspiring him to take lessons with the American saxophonist and flutist David Liebman in the USA.

Famous artists such as Candy Dulfer, Raul Midón, Metropole Orkest, and Gino Vannelli, to name a few, have already performed with the singer on numerous occasions. This time, Kim Hoorweg performs at BIRD in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, together with fellow Dutch musicians Anton Goudsmit on guitar, Niels Broos on keyboards, and Yoran Vroom on drums.
